I definitely think if you've been diagnosed with Emphysema and you DON'T stop smoking you're foolish. First of all, most folks must use oxygen to help with their breathing, and you can't smoke around oxygen. The oxygen company will even give you a sign to put in your window that says "NO SMOKING! OXYGEN IN USE." Second of all, you are making your lungs worse and not helping them to adjust to your illness.

It is very hard to quit when you are not sick - imagine how much harder it would be if you try when you are sick!
