A chronic respiratory disease, often arising from allergies that are characterized by sudden recurring attacks of labored breathing, chest constriction and coughing.


Asthma, according to the “American Heritage Dictionary” means:

A chronic respiratory disease, often arising from allergies that are characterized by sudden recurring attacks of labored breathing, chest constriction and coughing.

It can affect children and adults, asthma and is one of the most common chronic illnesses in countries including the United States, Canada and much of Europe. Since asthma is considered a chronic illness, treatment program for patients must be followed properly in order to reduce the affects and ongoing health problems that can result from mismanagement of the condition.

For many years now I have seen my daughter suffer with asthma, hoping that some day she would grow out of it. However, now an adult she is still taking medication on an on going basis. There is no real cure for asthma, but with the treatments and medication can be controlled.
