In August of this year “The 10th World Conference on Aids” was held in Toronto Canada. The attendance was well over 20,000 people.

In August of this year "The 10th World Conference on AIDS" was held in Toronto Canada. The attendance was well over 20,000 people among them top scientists, specialists, journalists and political leaders from 170 countries around the world.

In 2005 the number of people living with AIDS increased to 38.6 million. This was an increase of 30.6 million from the 8 million reported in 1990. For more statistics please go to www.avert.org/worldstats.htm

It is "Walk for life week" in Canada from September 17 - 25, 2006. Check www.cdaids.ca for the dates in your area.

Many people ask what is the difference between AIDS and HIV?:-

HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) is the virus that causes AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome)Once you are infected with HIV does not necessarily indicate that you will have AIDS.

If untreated though an HIV infection can damage ones immune system and can develop into AIDS.

It is the most serious level of an HIV infection. and it can cause the destruction of a persons immune system

There is a lot of fear and stigma that surrounds HIV and AIDS:-

An HIV infection can be controlled. It is wrong to assume that HIV is the same as AIDS and that once diagnosed with HIV means inevitable death.

What causes Aids and HIV:-

The cells in our immune system,is our bodies defense. When our immune system is not functioning well, we are at risk for serious infections and cancer which at times can be life threatening.

Maintain a healthy and strong body:-

It is important to maintain a healthy and strong body.By researching the use of nutritional food, vitamins, minerals etc.and looking into alternative medicines and therapies can protect the bodies immune system.

Have regular blood work so that your doctor can monitor your health. It is important to follow-up so that they can see how the HIV is reacting in your body.

A positive outlook is very important to heal your mind and transform your body,in order to live your life as healthy and full as you can.
